Our Famous Weather
Las Playas enjoys a mild coastal climate all year round. Mornings are wrapped in our signature marine layer, a soft, romantic mist that the locals affectionately call “the fog.” It usually burns off by the afternoon.
It does not usually burn off by the afternoon.
Things to Do
Surf Our World-Class Breaks
Las Playas sits in the heart of the beautiful Red Triangle, home to some of the most majestic marine life on the Pacific Coast. Bring a wetsuit. The water is refreshing!
Please do not search “Red Triangle” on the internet.
Stroll the Historic Pier
Our working pier offers fishing charters, whale-watching tours, and breathtaking views. Sightings of whales, dolphins, and sea lions are common!
Sightings of other things are less common, but not unheard of. See above.

Safety Tips for Visitors
- Always swim near a lifeguard.
- Check surf conditions before paddling out.
- If you see a tall, unsmiling woman standing very still on the beach, staring at the water and muttering numbers, she is not a lifeguard. She is, however, watching.
